Default Breeze blocks.......

Has anyone ever had their car sat on breeze blocks before without problems? I want to raise the car as high as possible using maybe 4 or 5 breeze blocks, but a few have said the blocks will break under the weight.

Anyone ever used a few breeze blocks without problems?

Cheers.

Put some wood between the blocks and the car it will stop the blocks cracking when the weight is on them . Worked for me in the past

Yes, but theres also alot more than just 4 "towers" of breeze blocks to take the weight.

and most houses are also wooden framed now too.

breeze blocks as in the white powdery ones?
they'll crack under the wieght mate
use wood as a packer as suggested, but you'de be much better off with concrete blocks to be honest
they come in both 4 and 9 inch widths, the same as the normal breeze blocks but are obviously much stronger

Plus it wouldnt be as high as id like. I know you can buy hi-lift stands, but for a couple of hundred pound to be used once, is a bit excessive really.

Ideally as high as possible keeping safety in mind obviously. Im thinking about 4-5 blocks will be fine, so that will be about 16 inches plus the distance from the bottom of the tyre to the floor level. if i can get about 2 foot overall clearence from the ground, id be happy.

Although i might bottle it when i start lifting it and end up spending loads of money on the proper gear anyway!!!!

I think you can mate and they would be good, but they cost a fortune and i cant really justify spending that much to be used once. I know you cant put a price on safety, but if im not happy with the safety of the blocks then i wouldnt use them, and go for the expensive option.

Yes mate, although the underside is already done in a light grey, so im going to re-paint it auralis. Ive got to do my engine bay again now as the bonnets been left open for a while and its got really dusty!!!

As i said though ill see what its like with blocks and if its at all unstable, ill fork out for the proper stuff.

The way things are going at the moment though, im really not sure if ill be ready for concourse next year.

Hey S1rst.....
What you need, block wise, is some 'foundation' blocks. They're the big 9'' square ones (16'' long). If you go for '7N' or above, you'll NEVER break those !!
2 of those under each wheel will give you the height you need.

A trip to the builders merchant then ??

BTW, if you use Breeze blocks that have a strength of 7n, then they wont break. 4n ones would NOT cruch under the weight of the car but are easily broke when laid flat.

If it was me id use 440x215x140 size blocks.
