Default NO SPARK ON ESCORT COSWORTH ANY IDEAS

it s a l-reg monte carlo big turbo, it ran fine last saturday when i had it out, went to it today to do a few winter jobs as you do and wouldnt start
no spark, turns over, fuel pumps working fine,
changed, crank sensor, ignitioin amp, coil, phase sensor looks fine,
i put a live straight to positive side of coil from battaery and starts and runs fine until i remove it
any ideas

Gapped the crank sensor proper on re-fitting?

yes cos it runs wen u put a live to the coil, its just lost the live feed to the coil, need to know why

Standard ford immobiliser playing up is a good place to look at


Then check the multiplugs for the engine harness on the chassis legs - if they have not been cut out already that is

IIRC the immobiliser will cut the earth, unless you have an aftermarket one fitted??

I would go with dodgy loom plugs beside power steering reservoir

we checked all the plugs today along with everything else we could think of there was only 0.7v getting to the coil so we checked the alarm that is fitted & it has no immobiliser wired
we will have to check the wiring again next week

i think the ford imobiliser cuts the fuel pump and starter motor and there both fine
anyone know if theres is a relay to power the coil

Have you tried locking then unlocking with the key?? Might be the standard alarm/immob??

is the wiring to the ign amp ok? mine had a dodgy wire once and it wouldnt spark until you wriggled the wire,might be worth a quick look

The coil 12v is not thru the ECU good news eh, Its also before the engine loom multi plugs so more good news, Its thru a Ignition fuse and relay and any after market immobilser. Standard immobiliser cuts fuel pump relay. Check for corroded fuses and dodgy immobilisers. Got Drawings if u need em

my car done, some thing like that, although it did run just cut out when it wanted, the live is an ign live from the fuse box, i just ran a new live rather than strip the loom to find it !!
