YOUR OWN experiences of how cars handle with heavier engines
As title. Ie the difference YOU can tell in handling between a similar spec Cossie and 24v V6, or so on.
Can be any type or size of car, from Nova to Grandada, just with experience of it with a lighter engine and a heavier one.
I want your OWN experience, not "i heard" as theres no end of that.
Just want to know how much difference extra weight at the front end really makes to handling, and in what way.
On paper the extra 30-40kg that most bigger engines would weigh seems a lot, but then i think about it, and thats not a huge amount really, tho maybe it is in one point on car.
Only experience of my own are 2litre 16v novas and v6 sierras, neither of which seemed any worse than the smaller engined ones, but i didnt get to drive either of them too hard round corners really, so i cant really get much from that.
So, has anyone got any PERSONAL experience of this they care to share?

Ive never really noticed it to any significant extent, yes a 2 litre nova feels a little front heavy, slightly more tendancy to understeer, but its NOT a big effect like people make out.
You notice it on track, but not really on the road IMHO

Have had 2 E46 BMs - a 2litre 4 and a 3litre 6 and they seemed to handle differently. Probably affected by virtue of the different base-set up they had.
Sierra comparisons aren't really valid as it was a 3dr shell Xr4i V6 vs a stiffer 4-door shell with a 2 litre turbo. Suspension set-up was too different to make real comparisons

i put an mi-16 engine in a 1.6gti 205.cant say it made much difference in that but im truely not sure how much heavier the mi is.but tbh i never tracked it,just fast back road use.the only probs i had were in the wet if i was a bit too keen on the throttle in the corners.

One of the main reasons why I ditched the CVH in favour of an all alloy one was to reduce front end weight.
Its virtually impossible to make the front end understeer now
Mine is only used on track or stage and my own experience is repeated in comments from the many who have driven it on a track too.
Ok so it has a good geometery settings, but the reduction in weight has had a massive effect on the car

I do beleive the YB with ancillaries is a similar weight to the V6 so i dont it feel much different. 150kgs rings a bell.
I've driven quite a few XR4x4's and most of them feel different in one way or another but they've mainly had differences on tyre, wheel size, suspension combo's

with the dohc engine in my estate it seemed to be a much better weight distribution, with the 24v it seems too heavy in the corners and the momentum really works against you causing me to loose time on a lap, as you need to go into corners that much slower ..
