life of an AP 4 paddle?
and its got a std cover, engine spec in my sig
ive had it in over 2 years now, done 9k miles, driven every day, countless launches.
what kind experience have others had? im hoping just to get the flywheel skimmed and not find that the clutch needs changing too

NO NO NO NO NO!!!
Gav, there is no way that you will get away with skimming the flywheel and not changing the clutch. Especially not the way you drive it!!
Just for a quick lesson in how clutches work. The clutch friction plate grips onto the flywheel while the engine is driving the transmission. During the lifespan of a clutch, it will naturally develop its own wear characteristics, the flywheel will do the same. Perhaps it will develop ridges or grooves.
When you renew the clutch, the new flat surface won't contact 100% of the flywheel surface due to high spots and therefore won't achieve good grip and will therefore slip. This is why paddle clutches don't last very long on flywheels that haven't been refaced.
This is the same if you skim the flywheel and dont renew the clutch.
Also, in my experiece, once you remove a clutch and actually look at it, even after only a few months of usage, the chances of you deciding to refit it are slim.
Why would you want to skim your flywheel anyway at this time?

hi christian
im enquiring on changing my box, and therefore as its out, i thought i might aswell skim the flywheel too, but think ill leave it alone then?
its not slipping, just thought its like maintenance to skim a flywheel every so often when using a 4 paddle. i get a grinding noise sometimes when pulling away, especially in reverse.
if thats normal, ill leave everything as it is

It's a bit like changing brake pads. If your discs are ridged from wear and you fit new pads, they could end up feeling worse than the ones you removed.

my 4 paddle has standard cover and the flywheel was skimmed when it was out. shudders a bit when you pull away so not much fun in traffic but has taken some serious abuse over 5k miles
