Default Is It Possible For A Car To Depreciate At One Pound Per Mile

As above really.

A geezer on SNET seems to think a X5 3.0 on a 54 plate does.

I know certain cars depreciate badly but surely that's taking the piss.

Also he picks me up on my spelling and grammar.

It's "an X5".

depends on how many miles you do.

if you buy one and drive it 4 miles home from the dealer and then park it up till its dropped in value b 20 grand then its 5 grand a mile.

If you bought one and did 100,000 miles in a year though, its not going to drop in value by 100,000

What an utterly fucking pointless stat to be trying to quote.

It hasnt depreciated just cause of the milage though, its cause of the age of it too.

If it had done 7500 miles or 30,000 miles, the price would be in the 25-30 bracket still for example, showing how little the milage is directly linked.

100,000 miles on it would probably take less than 10K off the price, so the actual depreciation from the milage its safe to assume is 10p or less.

Or does he think the age is irrelevant and if you bought a brand new one and left it sat for 3 years it would still be worth exactly 42k?
