cosmetic head gasket question ( reusable?)
are the 3 layer head gaskets reusable
reason i ask is ive just fitted one to my engine, but now i want to do a rebuild using my 200 block, the gasket was fitted a couple of months ago and the engine has just been sat on a stand
not even fired up
so was wondering if i could re use it or just bin it and buy a new one
thanks

your head and block surface has to be like glass to get a proper bite with no leaks on the cometic ones but if your heads been skimmed and you get your block decked then no problem and Ł100 rather than Ł375 for wrc,and to be honest your only going to use it once eh......

they can only be used once, they have pressed layers on them and when torqued down they are crushed to seal, if your are rebuilding your motor then the cost of a new gasket should be included for a proper job ...

but if it was to happen to me now i would use a new one for the sake of 100 quid...
