Default E39 Vs A6 Quattro

how does a e39 525/535 compare with a audi a6 '99 MY- quattro 2.8?

i know the e39 is the propper drivers car being rwd, but the a4 quattro sticks to the road like glue how about the a6 though? and does the 2.8 feel underpowered in a big car like the a6?

opinions please!

The A6 is a bit of a barge compared to the E39. The E39 will make you feel more involved.

As with most audis, the prob is you have way too much weight too far forward, and it is not designed with speed and handling in mind (except the legendary RS6).

The Audis dont have the nasty BMW esque image, but I decided that the Image was well worth it due to the increased quality of product.

BMWs tend to have more toys, but the Audis are cleaner lined

Hopre this helps, but remember I am biassed!!

I quite like the look of the new E60 M5, though a little out of my price range for quite a while!!!

yeah, both s6 and m5 are out of my price range atm!

i like the look of the e39 but can't help feeling the a6 saloon is the much better booking car, especially in quattro form as it's lower with the five spoke wheels.

bm being better spec'ed? probably true but there some quattros out there with the sat-nav/tv option, while most seem to have bose audio, leather, electric seats & air-con.

i think i can help a bit i did a road trip to le mans in a e39 535 and my parents have had a few audi's they are both very good cars.

535 v8 (245 bhp)is the much better car for driving quick and strangely better on zoom juice than a 530 (231 bhp) when driven normally. plus it growls at people when equipped with a sports exhaust
the a6 is slower (just under 200 bhp) doesnt handle as well but we had an audi 80 that went to 230,000 miles before my neighbour parked his vaux frontera on the drivers seat it had plently left too.

im hopefuly getting an MY 2000ish a4 or a6 2.5 tdi. early next year now that can haul ass and do 40+mpg

i do love the 2.5 tdi but i've found them not to be very relaible, soo i'd rather go down the 2.8 or prehaps the 2.7 route?

Audi's are great cars, get the job done with no drama, but thats exactly why i normally prefer the equivalent BM, lol
