Default identifying alternator...

i bought a new alternator for my cosworth converted bmw but the new one has the adjusting bolt lug on the wrong side.the supplier is struggling to find the correct one.the one they have seems to be a mirror image of my one but with the lug on the wrong side.as i dont know the model my donor engine came from im stuck.does anyone recognise these 2 alternators and can identify the models from which they came? theres also the possibility that the garage who did the conversion had modified the mounting brackets to make it fit.my old alternator has the part number 0120469688 and is a 70 amp.

if the dirty one on the left is the one you need, then you need an alternator from a 2wd cossie - '86 to '90 - 90 Amp is from sapphs, (88-90), 70A from 3 dr cossies

As above, the old dirty one is the same as mine off saph cos

Wonder if its possible that the new one has been put together wrong,or has the wrong plate on the end that the threaded lug for adjustment is

I would ask them to get you another, and see if it turns up the correct way around
