What do we think of these? Good car for pounding the motoway for about 4 k ish ? What kind of trouble can we expect after 100k miles?

Same engine as in Omega 2.5TD's and some Range Rovers.
i have found twice now that after 100k miles they dont like starting with less than 20 litres in the tank, and ive had one stall on me with 50 miles range left in the tank (these are omega's im talking about, but same principles i guess).
Fuel pumps are expensive when they go.
other than that, good at what they do.

As above, fuel pump costs £1100 to replace although not too common.
The duel tank issue isnt the same on the bmw as the opel and you do get a great drive from them.
Id go for the 525s as its a bigger car and more brutish.
143hp from the engine which is nice and torquey.

there are better diesels out there, but back in 1994, a diesel that sounded a bit like a petrol was cool lol.

Team HOTHOT!
My dad has had the baby version of the old BMW diesel engines in the guise of a 318TDS Touring. Bought the car when it was 4 years old and still has it today. We've collectively given it another 80k on the clock between us and it still starts perfect and drives very nice with no problems.
Only one small problem we have had is the auxillary belt tensioner sticking and slackening off. £12 for a new one and all was good. Funnily enough, I had the same problem on my Omega 2.5TD aswell so watch for them.

I would of thought 2/3k should easily buy you one of that era.
