totally agree with most comments on this thread although sky news were reporting 750000 earlier today...

my best mate's little bro got busted for posession with intent to supply the other week, and when it came to court rather than getting a stretch he was told he would have to report to the police station twice a week, see a drugs councillor and they'd try to find him housing.... now he's a fairly nice bloke and i wouldn't want to see him do time but wtf is that all about? you get caught dealing so the obvious course of action is to try to find him housing that I'm (and other taxpayers) paying for!!! I THINK NOT!

what i dont understand is surely the people at the top must see these things like the payouts for heroin addicts in jail and think"hang on-thats not right" .

they must also see when out and about every second person they see is either polish or eastern european and think "hang on-thats not right"
