106GTI, opinions?
Thinking of one as a daily drive, had a basic 1.1xn for the last few month's and its a right hoot, apart from the lack of grunt it outhandles loads of stuff it has no right to.
So whats the GTI like? apart from the extra power do they handle same or better? any common problems with them? what are they like on juice? the usual stuff really.
Probably keep it standard, maybe go for a suspension and brake upgrade in the future, but I'll give the filter and exhaust a miss, I'm done with loud daily driver's these days.
Cheers

Like the Saxo VTS it's a good fun car that has suffered badly with the Max Power image

I'd say the 106 has a much better image too. Peugeot's tend to be seen as more of a drivers car

I like the rallye aswell, are they the same as the VTR saxo? (1.6 8v)
Need to do about 300 miles a week so just wondering which will be the best for that really.

The GTi would make the better daily driver due to the box and 120bhp engine imo.
Rallye's are awesome little things though

Daily Driver GTi's are great.
Not much will keep up with you on a set of B Roads.
I have a S1 106 Rallye, but junked the S1 1300 bottom end for a 1600 out of a brand new 206. Still using my S1 Head & Inlet. Its a cracking car.
GTi's don't suffer from any problems really. When buying one look for SH and a cambelt change. Apart from that its mainly minor electrical niggles that could go wrong.
All the cars are fully galvanised and if its rusting then its been in a crash.
Its one of the best handling Hot Hatchs Ever, fact.

A friend of ours still managed to put hers through a house though
Too much car for a 18 year old I think.
17th 106 GTi private plate, crashed
18th 106 GTi another private plate and a custom ICE install, crashed through somebodies sitting room and firbrigade had to cut the roof off
19th BMW 318 compact
21st BMW 32? coupe.
Daddy has too much money
