Default Baaaaaaaaaaad mistake......(Not all bad though)

Whilst getting the car ready for an event, I just took it up the road to try something and evidently forgot something......

<<<<<Real Tears.

It's totally my fault, but I simply cannot tell you how lucky I am to be here. I instinctively hit the brakes, spun out of control and I really aren't joking when I say that I missed an oncoming car by inches. Literally, maybe 6 inches at the most.

So, what now? I need a bonnet like yesterday. The roof is dented (although not too bad), the scuttle is torn (again, not too bad). However, I'm not sure if the shell is worth spending the money on.

shit, not good. hope you can sort it quick and cheap.

did the same on a Granada once. Scared the crap out of me. Luckily I was on a straight bit of road, so I just stuck hazards on and slowed down.

Close call!!!

You're very lucky to have missed the other car and other objects.

How did you see where you were going to stop?

1) Head out of the window Ace Ventura style

2) Peer under the bottom of the bonnet like that Ford driver did for 18 miles on one rally ages ago

3) Or just brake and hope for the best?

SiB - Number 3 mate. All the talk of what to do and what not to do in these circumstances disappears from your head. I braked and the car just slid until I came to rest on the verge.

LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY in an odd kind of way.

No 3 I'd imagine was a moment...

Grab a bonnet off one of the guys above and get back on the road as soon as you can.

Can you get bonnet pins that actually lock / snap shut as you close them? I've seen this before a few times, so easily done

That's bad news mate and a gutting photo of the car the best thing is you are able to type on the keyboard and not seriously injured or dead, car don't look too bad, see if you can go for the repair,

Thats bad luck Christian

I had the same happen to me a long time back 3am on a country road, I sensibly pressed the brakes and looked out the side window to gauge the distance to the grass verge as I drove parallel to it.
