Glad you're okay mate, it could've been a lot worse. I saw the same thing happen to a guy in a 3DR at Donington last year, it's amazing the damage it does to the car. Bet you crapped yourself when it happened!

Lets look at the evidence

First trip out we almost died on the way upto some event (over took a Range Rover only to find a huge sleeping policeman ahead at 60mph lol)

2nd time.. needs no reminding of the story

3rd time the bonnet flipped up

So basically you never getting in the Monte

Well basically I had semi slick front tyres on 12psi and normal road wheels on the rear on 30psi and on the way back to the bottom of Brunters I took the bend a little to fast (100mph IIRC) and massivly under steered and the two off side wheels touched the grass and sent the car side ways in to what felt like the longest slide ever.. I remember me and Franco looking at each other thinking when the fuck is this going to end.. then ended up in that freshly ploughed field and the car lifted up to roll over but then fell to all fours again.. phew!
...Then basically me and Franco pissed ourselves laughing.. as did the Jamsport crew when they winched my Fiesta out and me and Jay had mud up to our shins...

Happened to me at the beginning of the year. Snapped a clutch cable and in all the confusion didn't close it prioperly. Scuttle and roof were fine though. Just needed a new bonnet and hinges. Good luck mate

Bad times mate

One of my mates did the same, 70ish mph, then the bonnet came up, his was because of the craply fitting intercooler.

It might also be a good idea to replace the bonnet hinges to, as my mates ones were bent as fooook and the new bonnet would not line up right.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Really sorry to hear this chap. Hope you get it sorted ok I have seen some people with metal cables which loop through the reinforced bar on the bonnet n tie down on the anti roll bars etc just incase the catch does let go. Maybe it might be worth doing a group buy on something like this to prevent it ever happening! Is that something your company could do christian?

Christians bonnet catch did not fail, he forgot to put the bonnet pins on after shutting it.

Sierra has gone through 4 screens in last few years!!!

I did one screen at Castle combe... I didn't jump on the brakes though like a big girl

To be honest I didn't even lift off the throttle

I just peered through the gap at the bottom of the screen!

Renton was in passenger seat and after a while just screamed at me 'Are you going to FUCKING PULL OVER?!?!?!?!?'

you were lucky mate.

I did this on ym rover gti years ago at 90mph on the m4 in the third lane. The stupid twat in the middle lane didnt even notice I had to carry on past my junction and then indicate and move over to the hard shoulder using just my rear view mirrors and then as i had come too far into the hard shoulder i knocked the SOS phone fplying down the road which damaged the car more than the bonnet.

Smashed the screen, sunroof, whole of the passenger wing, bonnet, headlight and indicator fooked.

Well, I managed to find, to my surprise, a white non-turbo bonnet & hinges at a local Ford breakers. Cost me Ł20! I also had a new screen fitted under the windscreen cover part of my policy. We had a fiddle with the dents etc and it actually looks quite reasonable now. That'll do for now until I decide where I am going with the car.

I actually have a more serious problem with it now!!

I remember that. It was just as I was pointing you out to my mates.

Cola: That's Dingy.
Pete: Who the white Escort?
Pete: ... wihout a bonnet (as it flys through the air)
Cola: Yeah, but I swear he knows what he's doing...

PS: Ding, I hear my car and yourself will be at Dan's next week

My bonnet got intimate with the roof and windscreen a few years ago. Scary as Hell as one minute you are looking at the road and the next it's all gone dark

What do you mean you have a more serious problem? Don't tell us the boot opened while reversing?

Hope you get it all sorted soon mate
