Default Sapphire CLX 4x4 as a winter run-around?

Need to get me a car for the winter as im tired of walking or taking the bus now that the the cossie is tucked away.

Found a Sapph CLX 4x4 that seems to be in very good nick, by looking at the pictures.

I know nothing about normal Sapphires so how is the 2.0 engine? Will it feel underpowered or is it ok?

Thought it would be fun with a cheap Sapphire that got the same fun 4x4 as my cossie?

it's not got the power to properly use the 4wd system, but it's cpable enough
good motor for tooling about in and it will go round corners the same, same sort of wieght as the cossie just half the power, don't foget that with the 24V in there it's a heavy lump and the car tends to understeer and is not as chuckable

Is it hard to transplant a 24v into the Sierra, expensive?

I live in the norhern parts of Sweden and we got about 15 inches of snow right now and it will snow all winter. You are welcome to race me with a 2wd up here anytime.

Dojj, I forgot about the understeer factor with a heavy lump. Pity that its underpowered with 2.0 though.

Their asking price is quite steep but if I will have a look at it and if the let it go cheap its worth a try. Would be fun with something else than a Sapphire.

the only things you really need to watch out for the with the dohc is that the fans work, the temp switch works, the thermostat works and that there isn't too much antifreeze in it and it'll last for ages

if it's done mroe than 100,000 it's worth spending a few quid and changing the cam chain

40% antifreeze mix, i know he lives in colder climes but too much tends to work it's way through the head as it is a poorer quality of ali compared to the 16V versions found in the rs2k's

it is listed as one of the technical service update things from ford itself, i'll see if i can find it, but there are bout 10 folders worth of sierra updates in the loft so it might do a captain oates and maybe some time
