Diesel exhausts--Is there a reason why they point down??

Default Diesel exhausts--Is there a reason why they point down??
Cue all the "So no-one else gets covered in smoke posts"

Just wondering why the tail pipes on Diesels face the floor??

But i am sure the 306 DTurbo pipe came straight out the back like normal pipes????

Your right about the 306 one Tiff, it does'nt point downwards.

However new BMW's have exhuast like any other petrol 3 series.

tell that to my pollen filter when it comes out every 10K miles black as your hat lol The particles are just smaller so you don't "see" them..

I think in some cases, like the new BMW engine, because they now meet Euro 4/5 they are allowed to have the normal tips on? Read it somewhere!

new saabs have them pointing down as the 2001 on 9-5 3.0 diesels like my old mans belt some shit out,supposed to spread accrosss the road

dont they run fake rearward facing ones that actually exit downwards, like a lot of diesels these days?

some BMWs deffo seem to have fake 2nd tailpipes, as you can see the clean 1 and a black one.
