Default Is it worth paying to protect your NCB

Have to reinsure one of my vehicles this month so getting quotes ATM.

Currently insured with More Than who charged £450 last year & want £500 this year.
Why do insurance Cos do that ? Think that you wont check with another Co to get the right price

Anyway, Tesco have quoted £355 comp & £410 for the same policy with protected NCB
Is it worth paying the extra to protect OR if you make a claim will they stuff you with an extra premium anyway
BTW i have full no claims bonus (only had a windsreen replaced in 03/05) which i dont think couts as a claim

Any experiences ????

Default ncb

Although its good to protect ya bonus, at the end of the day when it comes to re-new your ncb stays the same but your risk goes up because you have made a claim,

best to shop around for insurance at re-new time, its far too easy to sign on the dotted line

I have protected my NCB, but as Charlie said if you make a claim your insurance still goes up But it wouldnt go up as much if you lost your NCB imo. So i protected it.

I've always had protected NCD, some insurance companies will knock off 2 or 3 years [maybe more] NCD if you have a claim and it's not protected.

If you've got a lot, then it's worth protecting. If you make a claim, it will go up by a certain percentage upon renewal, but your no claims will be worth a lot more percentage wise...
