Broke my Quaife Thickwall Front Diff - UPDATE on page 3...
I think only Kevin Sharp and me have broken Quaife thickwall diffs/case.....how cool is that?
Went bang changing from 1 st to 2 nd gear.........then heard a very loud banging/knocking noise and pulled over. Looked under the car and saw that loads of diff oil was pouring out
Please no one comment with: "so thickwall diffs are not all their cracked up to be"

GT30/external wastegate with 2.3 BAR spike and 2 BAR held.............BUT I did a gentle change into 2 nd to preserve the g/box, was not thinking that the diff would ever brake........I think that 2.3 BAR spike may be a tad too....um.... "spikey"

From: Macclesfield - you'll never leave....!
what actually causes the failure though,,,?
is the split casing a result of the teeth failing and causing it to explode due to law of something got to give if a 1/2" piece of b'stad hard gear goes though the crownwheel teeth, OR does the case crack due to the amount of torque which in turn unmeshes the teech and causes them to chew themselves to bits.? in short , what bit need beefing up , the casing or the internals...>?

see, all of this gay 4x4 nonsense just costs a fortune and STILL breaks , I was considering putting big power through my escort, but 7k for transmission that is still unreliable is pointless in my eyes , RWD is the way forwards, even if you don't go anywhere till 4th gear
Oh and doug, you are an animal , hope you get it sorted soon, PM me if you need a T5 box
