Obviously you've never had to replace the turbo, or head gasket yet.

the only thing that makes these jobs easier.....is if someone has done them before, and left half the pointless bolts out when re-building !!!!!

even then, its a nightmare. I know plenty of guys that point blank refuse to work at these cars, as it simply isnt worth it.
And MR2's just get worse due to their awkward engine position.

A friend owned a ST205 GT4 about 9 years ago, and generally speaking it was a good car. The ST205 is a much much much better car than the older ST185. I would still never own either, and would still refuse to work on either, unless there was a very big payment at the end.

Here is a VR4 Mitsi 2.5 twin turbo piston and conrod ( dont ever damage the crank/rods in these...it is virtually impossible to source parts to rebuild )
Although to be fair in this case, it was the owners fault for driving with no oil.
But the Auto boxes and transfer boxes on the GTO/VR-4 are very unreliable.

And yes, it is as thin and weedy as it looks !!!

Had both, reasonably easy to get more power
My GTO did a 0 - 60 in 4.2seconds after a little fiddling

Superchips blew my GTO up, parts were readilly available from Japan, so you have to wait 6-8 weeks but I got a set of pistons and rods for mine through a mitsubishi dealer no probs
