I found the difference from my Saph to the 3dr being that the back of the 3DR was lighter and cause the back to step out alot easier

Is that actually true though? I've been reading Performance Fords by Graham Robson and it states that the overall weight for the Sapph is 1206kg and the 3 door 1217kg. I know that's not much different though.

IIRC the saph shell is stiffer despite it being 4 door.

There's not a great deal of difference between them drving wise imo.

How much you spending? If you're in the 6-7k bracket I'd rather buy a top spec saph than a bottom end 3 door

saff should handle better,3dr has the big back windows ,saff has foam filled front pillars,,i know this doesnt sound like much but i have heard marco saying about "the jelly mould 3dr" before.

ps, i have driven both and didnt notice much of a difference,,granted not with as much anger in the 3dr

I think that should have been 1260kg for the saph. I remembe reading that the saph was circa 1250 whilst the 3 door was a touch lighter at circa 1250.

cheers for all the feed back people

gurnE your right about the price range. probably going to stick with the saff coz 6-7k is what i want to spend only thing is i prefer the mean appearance of a 3door.
