I showed my missus that vid just after i bought the Escy, when she saw that last bit....................

She nearly died with laughter!! For about 4 weeks she was a nightmare giving me the thumbs up everytime we parked up!!


She still remembers now & then!

this promo video is present on the "story of the Ford Escort RS Cosworth" VHS. And the music is made by Queen's Bryan May, it deserves respect... even if the thumbs up is a bit ridiculous, indeed... but hey, it's almost 15 years old

That 'works' fiesta has a BDA engine and came 10th overall at the Monte Carlo Rally IIRC

The production of the first million Fiestas was celebrated in January of 1979, a new record-setting pace for Ford.

A second landmark in the early Fiesta history was reached 11 days later when a key event in the motorsport calendar, the Monte Carlo Rally, saw a Ford Fiesta on the start line for the first time with Finnish superstar-to-be, Ari Vatanen, at the wheel.

The competition car was developed under enormous time pressure and the most difficult circumstances, as Britain was experiencing widespread industrial strikes. The 800kg "Fiestissima" with double Weber carburettors, electronic ignition and dry sump lubrication, had a 1.6-litre engine capable of 7,250 rpm despite its side-mounted camshaft, and delivering 155 PS. A close-ratio, four-speed gearbox was created for the job and a mechanical-hydraulic locking differentiation provided the traction that won this rallying mini a sensational 10th place first time out

but did you notice the grill on the white escort the badge is on the bonnet and the grill has no badge

Mate there where loads of differences the grill and bumper where one piece, the side skirts had a mk5/6 RS2000 type twisted shape to them. The swage line along the side continued onto the rear bumper and the rear bumper also had the 'dummy' exhaust hole upside down.

This Escort I believe is one of the first (if not the first) concept

ok smarty pants whilst im waffling there used to be a doctor at the hospital in chelmsford who had a escort
cos and he had the round grilled mk5 bonnet with vents used on the first facelifted rs2000's and his one had little karman stickers under the indicator never ever seen another like that to be honest look ed odd but back then just seeing one was cool

there also used to be a saff round essex a Graham Hathaway car which had those stripes proper painted on aswell got a pic somewhere
