I never had to input any DNS entries when I did mine. Are you able to connect wirelessly and are you getting an IP address and a gateway address?

What about in control panel, interent connections, network connection then iirc you have the choice to obtain ip automaticly.
Didnt need to do any of that with my wireless, just pluged the router in and ran the wizard with my laptop on and hey presto the interweb popped up.

Have you gone to Start button>Run>http://192.168.0.1

Username is: admin
Password is: password

There you should be able to set up all of your settings for the internet and your account for the router.

I had a netgear router which I used with NTL BB and I never entered any DNS setting, the router was left for DHCP and I use a surfboard 3100 modem.

if one of your pc`s is wired into the netgear router and you can get onto internet then its not the isp /router problem.

its the access point side of the router,

on you wired machine, goto start, run

type
1.cmd
press enter
2.then on black screen type
ipconfig

3.where it says default gateway, take a note of this address

then goto laptop, once it says its connected to netgear, goto

staart,run type cmd
press enter

on black screen
type

ping with what ever you noted in step 3 eg: ping 192.168.0.1

so the wireless router is not a modem ?

its connected to the modem via a ethernet cable ?

if thats true, you may need to enter the ip address of the modem so the router can talk to it.

yes the router isnt a modem and it is connected to a modem via ethernet cable. Read manual which says it will find config for you but if you have a static ip you will need to contact isp, which i did and they said i only need the dns addreses.added these but it wants ip,subnet, and gateway and i dont know what to put

IP address will either be your modem address or the internet address it gets when you connect, same for subnet.

the gateway should be the modem too.

run the ipconfig /all command on your main pc and try either the internet ip or the gateway ip
