Default help needed escort si idle

my escort 1.8 si daily runner around has devloped a problem after starting it idles fine until you blip the revs or pull up to a junction and the revs drop it stalls . and some times the revs rise and fall on idle . it seems to be getting worse as the cold draws in any ideas ??

ICV could be clogged up take itoff and give it a clean , check ya plugs leads also your MAF and check nothings clogged up

had a new set of leads and plugs not long ago aswell as new air filter and the maf did not look cloged then . thinking about it now it does hesatate sometimes under acceleration

I'd have a go at cleaning it up first. soak it in petrol for a bit just replace the twin O-Ring underneath the ISCV

Don't buy a new one until you have tried cleaning the old one. Check the electrical conection too.

You will not see that your MAF is clogged, all it takes is a bit of oil of a chavy induction kit on the 'hot wire' to make it go wrong. Spray carb cleaner into the MAF to clean it, not with the engine running!
