used some sort of shift register IIRC...? it s while since ive done any ladder
i use RACL / CARE now as thats all that we can program our stuff with

Ladders ok for beginners
I use the new IEC 1131 block language for PLC's as thats now a european
standard that most customers demand and most PLC manufacturers offer
that except AB at the moment. The yanks are behind the times

ah, seem to remember covering that at uni,
does that allow you to use sequential function blocks aswell as ladder ?
does the same as the CARE software we use (but just not IEC1131 compliant)

Dave,
I do have 4 new ones built up.
Does your car have a pectel data stream output on P8 ?
If so, I will let you have a unit to evaluate for a few weeks after xmas....
I need an independant person to find the bugs for me and give an
unbiased opinion and suggestions to make it better.
And yes, it does data log

You can stuff your AB PLCs!! IMO Nexus series is where it's at!!! Reliable? Hell no!!! Unless you're relying on it to break!! I would say thank god they became obsolete but that just makes my life harder as we still have about 30 running existing applications!!!
I like Omron gear though. I can get on quite well with CXP and the stuff seems bomb proof.
So are we ever likely to see a new generation SECS monitor then Simon? Maybe even one that will work with Pectel's own range of ECUs?

Hi guys,
making my own monitor at the moment with 2 x 28x1 picaxes - does anyone have the pectel stack data format?
I guess it is 19200 (8,1,none) baud - but hyperterminal does not give me much - do I have to 'poll' it with some special char? Pectel t2 btw. Shouldn't it just stream?

I.E. a protocol that is read only.
You need to be a customer of Pectels or have a login to thier secure site
and you should be able to download a document with the protocol information.
If not, give them a call as they are usually helpfull.
(I dont have this myself so cant help you)
