Interesting question that Lee, and im afraid i dont know "the answer" to it.

The gearbox itself is very stong, easily capable of 600bhp for a reasonable period of time.

The standard txb, never breaks through power, it breaks due to over heating the VC from uneven tyre wear or failed seals due to heat/corrosion

Its a weird system in that no matter how much power you have from the engine the txb only ever transmits a maximum of 90NM to the rear.
This is why power levels dont effect the txb

But if you start upping that 90NM (easily done with thicker fluid) then thats when it starts breaking due to power, but its about how much load you give the txb not how much power the engine has, even a 300bhp motor could break it if you loaded up the txb enough and put sticky tyres on the back.

But Qrew manages just fine with his modified one sending 300NM to the rear and hasnt had a failure yet despite loads of trackdays and laucnhes with all 4 wheels spinning at the strip.
He has offered to sell me one for 900 euros for cally's car, so i will probably take him up on that at some point.

chip

i dont doubt it .. if it is thought out correctly .. you dont go and spend shed loads of money on a hybrid kkk turbo if you can get a garret and manifold for roughly the same tho .. sorry twice

as you say biggest problem is the transfer boxes .. makes a cossie look reliable

Indeed, cally has just arranged to but a T3 roller bearing for hers and a custom manifold on my advice, no point fucking around with the KKK really.

Saying that though, Russ from Wallace Performance ran mid 12s in his astra and over 170mph at TOTB witha hybrid KKK and ported standard manifold, so its possible still to get the results if you know what you are doing.
His is 400bhp on that hybrid, your mates wont be

Well its possible with the right intercooler / chip / turbo, but not many people manage it.

You end up needing about 5 bar static pressure on the standard injectors too, so i hope he isnt on the stnadard pump cause it utterly cannot cope with it!

All that "locked box" does is remove the ability to switch between 2 and 4 wheel drive by removing the electronically controlled hydrualic clutch, its got to be the worlds dumbest modification when you can switch it elecontrically anyway at your control not the ECU's with a simple circuit, ive been saying that to peopel for ages but no one takes any notice, and then last week i found out that is EXACTLY what the swedish one does, lol

They do uprated boxes as well that send a larger % to the rear, but ive yet to see any VTS supplied box with the modificatiosn you REALLY need, which is external bracing of the casing (think cossie 4wd front diff!)

No, thats what other people do, not what im on about.

I dont know anyone else in the UK who has done what im mentioning.

Pulling fuse 19 allows you to overide the ECU to force it into 2wd whe nthe ecu is asking for 4wd, but it doesnt do what i want which is the opposite, i want to be able to force it into 4wd when the ecu wants 2wd (so just before a launch for example)

He NEEDS to get that pump sorted mate, or it will end up melting, they really cant cope, just like a cossie, they also benefit from being rewired like a cossie too.
