Default charge cooler plumbing question

how has every1 plumbed in thier charge coolers?
ive got a pipe off the bottom of the rad, going to the pump, out of the pump to the top of the C/C then from the bottom of the C/C to the top of the swirl pot, then from the bottom of the swirl pot to the top of the rad,
this works but it sounds like the C/C isnt full of water,
im wondering if the water is pumped into the top then trickles down straight into the outlet at the bottom and away, not filling the C/C.

would i be better off pumping the water into the bottom of the C/C and letting it fill to the top, then out of the top hose to the swirl pot?
how have you lot done it?
cheers.

you have to syphon it so the water comes back to the pot otherwise the air will stay trapped in there...

the way i plumbed mine was

bottom bottle to pump
pump to rad
rad to chargecooler
chargecooler to top bottle

thats using its own rad and bottle

edit to say there a pain in the arse to get the water out aswell

im going to try blanking off the bottom of the cc and pouring water in the top with a funnel.

if you'e done it how Pace told you to do it mate it should be right, you just need to take the pipe off that goes back to the top of the swirl pot and while the pump is running suck it till water comes out, then you will have got rid of all the air and it should run fine

not had any experience with after market chargecoolers tbh but when i had to remove and refit them on a CL65 amg they were a right twat to bleed. had to use a special tool using compressed air and other annoying stuff.

might just be air in the system?

I think it would depend if your swirl pot is higher than the rad. The chargecooler will only fill level with the highest point in the system I think. So the chances are it isn't filling up. Re-plumb it

On my montego I went from the pump (mounted on the bottom of my inner wing)uphill all the way into the rad, out of the rad into the bottom of the cooler, out of the top of the cooler into the top of the swirl pot, then a downhill drain all the way back into the pump.

Got a picture of part of the system here.
