Default ???? BHP for £5920

Went to AP Motors in Plymouth today to get my car Rolling Roaded, to see what power it's kicking out since I spent £5920 on the engine and ancillaries, after my last 371 bhp engine started giving up the ghost!

So after buying the block and using loads of bits from my old engine, coupled with a new turbo, worked head, high lift cams, fitting a decent clutch, bullet proof rear diff, bigger turbo, larger injectors and getting it all live mapped - I gained:

Wait for it

Wait for it

2 BHP

2 fucking usless nags.
Could have bought 2 real horses for that money (I know, I own a horse!)
Could have bought another Cossie for that money

I now have 373 bhp, due to a suspected faulty sensor causing the car to run mega rich, and a possible boost leak preventing the turbo getting up to full speed.

I'm gutted, but at least I know what I need to do (find and fix it!) to get the other 70-80 bhp the spec should produce!

Oddly, it drives MINT, and feels QUICKER than before (maybe those two extra horses are thoroughbreds?? )

I'll be back with more soon 8)

Good to meet you too Richie

Got some work to do on mine now!! Your bay looks the nuts by the way - so clean and tidy with the silly stuff removed to the boot!

What mine should have been like if I hadn't wasted all my money on the 2 bhps!!

459 bhp, twice over.

Which means my car realistically has 273 bhp

Not sure of the ins and outs on the other car, but having seen the gearbox and diff spares he has, I have no doubt it kicks out good power!

Think it runs a fair bit of boost IIRC, and has a modded head...

Hi matey

Doesnt sound like anything more than a tuning glitch - fix the prob, then enjoy the fruits of your passion!!

Sounds like we are in the same patch somewhat. We must compare notes at the next WSM meet, if my cossie ever sees a road ever ever again

Spec is:

200 Block
7:2-1 Cosworth Pistons
BD 14s
Kent VS valve springs
Kent verniers
CHD 550bhp spec head
Univeral Turbos style T38
Siemens 72 lb / hr injectos
2400 Motorsport "Swedish style" inlet plenum
Karl @ NMS live map

It should make 420 + bhp - hopefully nearer 450bhp so to get 373 is disappointing.

A bit of fettling at home, and maybe a trip back to Karl for professional TLC should see it back to where it should be

Evening Marco!

I know the car / turbo / engine is good for more - I'm sure there's something simple wrong with the car like an iffy MAP sensor or some thing. Just got to find out what and get back up to speed.

Their rollers could be out, as like I said it feels quick, but then perhaps not as quick as it really could be.

Karl will fix it I'm sure!

I would also be dissapointed with the result with that spec

As you said should be up around the 450bhp mark

Lets hope its something simply and the lots horses are found

Steve.
