We actually were one of the companies responsible for installing the Omega line at the Lotus factory, and my Father watched them take a JCB to the development cars, and everything off them was damaged in someway to make them unusable . This was to avoid paying any sort of duty / tax on them .

Autocar tested one on 28/11/90
0-60 5.1
0-100 11.1
30-70 3.8
SS1/4 13.5@111
Top Speed they got 164 but ran out of space although they reckoned there was more to come given more room
They do weigh about 1650kg compared to a Sapphire of about 1200-1300kg depending on spec
I think the one Performance Car tested got 0-100 in 10.6 but I'm not sure if the test conditions were the same and there will be differences between drivers/cars/etc

I can remember Autocar getting Richard Noble to try and test the top speed in the UK. He got up to about 160ish but I think they had to use Nardo to get over a true 170?
There was a big house I used to drive past down Evesham way that had 2 parked on the driveway - always used to slow down for a good stare..
They've certainly got road presence - there's one round this way and when it suddenly looms up behind you looks impressive. If I win the lottery I shall buy one
Didn't Harvey have one or two?

Very nice One of my all time favourite cars there. I've had 2 carlton gsi's the 12 and 24 valve and they've been the most fun cars I've owned up until the cossie The lotus carlton is still on my wish list.
