Well the fact that a 385bhp Sapphire can murder one, is good enough for me . They're a big heavy old bus and standard RS Turbos can go "off the clock", what does THAT prove .

Rudy is well known in these parts for famously being sacked for totalling a LC whilst out on a test drive .

We actually were one of the companies responsible for installing the Omega line at the Lotus factory, and my Father watched them take a JCB to the development cars, and everything off them was damaged in someway to make them unusable . This was to avoid paying any sort of duty / tax on them .

That is a wicked site! Just been reading it for ages. Loadsa top quality pics and good write up of the whole restoration. The guy lost loadsa stuff in a workshop fire, must have been heart breaking. But he went on and rebuilt it all even better anyway. Good stuff!

Autocar tested one on 28/11/90
0-60 5.1
0-100 11.1
30-70 3.8
SS1/4 13.5@111
Top Speed they got 164 but ran out of space although they reckoned there was more to come given more room

They do weigh about 1650kg compared to a Sapphire of about 1200-1300kg depending on spec

I think the one Performance Car tested got 0-100 in 10.6 but I'm not sure if the test conditions were the same and there will be differences between drivers/cars/etc

Are they a paddle clutch as standard?

I can remember Autocar getting Richard Noble to try and test the top speed in the UK. He got up to about 160ish but I think they had to use Nardo to get over a true 170?

There was a big house I used to drive past down Evesham way that had 2 parked on the driveway - always used to slow down for a good stare..

They've certainly got road presence - there's one round this way and when it suddenly looms up behind you looks impressive. If I win the lottery I shall buy one

Didn't Harvey have one or two?
Think i know the bloke who owned these one was right hand drive one left. Sold them both if its who im thinking of

Are you thinking of Joe Ellis at BTB exhausts who had one in white that he ran at the Silver State Classic open road race in USA?
