Who has it and what is needed for this economical mod? I have done a search and read up but want to know what is needed to convert a L6 running 2wd sapphire to closed loop lambda fuel control.
L8?
chip/board
lambda sensor
mount in exhaust
any guages, wiring or mods to consider?
Extra MPG is needed on the cossies

Im running closed loop on L8.
All you need is the bung welded in the exhaust & send your ECU off to Stu for the board mods etc & a lambda sensor.
And away you go, plus a set up of course

Im guessing its certainly worth it if you do a fair amount of m/way driving?

Its worth it even if you dont do a lot of Motorway driving, here is a cut and paste reply from a similar topic i replied to recently.....
EVERY car produced in the world since 1992 has had closed loop fuelling control as standard. The benefits of this system, apart from giving great fuel economy (Mine on 900cc Siemens returned 34.4mpg at 80mph) are as follows:
Feedback control for the ecu. Instead of the engine wearing and then you getting the normal cosworth bad idle, my software now compensates for it. No more crappy idle every 3 weeks, in fact, i havent tweaked my idle co or speed for over a year that i recall. lol
You will pass an MOT and UK roadside emissions checks, something that incredibly, a lot of cosworth owners still cannot do. lol
Great Cylinder cleanliness. Open up a closed loop controlled engine and you will note it is rather clean. None of this crappy black carbon you see baked all over engines that have old fashioned non closed loop fuelling.
Greater oil and engine life. Overfuelling engines by their very nature dilute the oil and of course this compromises its lubrication ability and then of course your oil thins and the good old YB burns it easier. My last Nurburgring run showed 30laps of the cuircuit, 2000 hard miles and less then 1pint of oil consumed when i got home. Clin d'oeil
My software for closed loop is far better at idle valve and cold control than many tuners non closed loop software as i have dedicated the most time to perfecting it, remember, it was me that did the first ever closed loop for large injectors that worked properly on the Weber L8 with a 3bar in this country with all the correct switch over points and thus doesnt allow a T4 to run 12psi at 15:1 because someone just copied fords control maps for a 2bar with no tweaks for larger injectors. lol.
We know more about this system than most and as a result our software will not give any crappy hunting when cold or poor driveability. In fact, you will be hard pushed to tell if your engines hot or cold with our closed loop software unless you look at your temp gauge. To some owners this alone is worth the extra cost even if the fuel economy isnt.
Money: All this extra cash i have from spending less on fuel, less on tuning and less on oil i can spend in the syndicate Saturday night with the other 55 PF users.
Costs vary. But in a nutshell:
Closed loop chip up to greens = Ł250.00
Lambda if you dont have one is Ł80
Exhaust SS Boss if you dont have one is Ł20
95% of 4wd cars have the wiring as standard from 90> If you dont, i will instruct you how to wire it. Its very simple, live, earth and a signal to pin 2 of ecu.
Hope this has helped.

Superb replies all, My mate and I both want this, he has already got a L8 ECU for his 2wd, I think I will find one and get wasted spark fitted at the same time for more reliability,Closed loop got to be done on L8 though- not possible on L6? If so my Stg3 L6 will go up for sale to help fund it
Thanks for your time Stu

can you provide a closed loop chip for a P8 ECU to run 8injectors or does it have to be L8..??
thanks,
