If you went to buy a 90 spec 3i.........
If you were after one as a runabout what would you expect for 1100?
Just been to see a 1991 efi xr3i in red. 66k gen miles with SH and all mots etc. Interior mint as new. Now, the underside was solid as hell i couldnt beleive it, and no rust around sunroof it opened and shut like a new one
But, it had rust scabbing on back arches, a bit on front arches, a scab under spoiler on tailgate, a scab at side of one of repeaters and then where the rear wheel arch meets sill some bubbling. The battery tray was mint and so were inner wings...in other words all the right places were solid and all the usual cosmetic places had scabs. Boot floor was mint too.
Only other thing was oil on gearbox, where usually its the crank oil seal and is a git to do and i didnt want to fook about like that
I cant decide for the money if its decent enough. Theres fook all XR3is about now so i dont suppose i could ask for much more really? hmmmm....
Opinions....on the subject too please ot on wether i should buy an rst or wether YOU would have a 3i....cos i dont care about that

Sounds a lot of money still but if it is as rot free as you say bid him well under the 1k and pay to get the oil seal done.
I had my first XR3i back in about '89 and fookin loved it! Not that quick but took all the treatment I give it and still sold it for a profit year later!

it its worth more in bits but after finding out there going up like fuck in
value im keeping it coverd in my workshop for some more time

just get a 1100 fiesta as a runabout, slow, cheep, cant break the dam thing, mot on monday should sail through no problems, car cost £0 3 years ago, no mot, went straight through then if it fails would just find another for £50 with 6+ months test!

I paid £1400 back in 2000 when I was 17 for basically the same car, Mint Red 90 Spec XR3i on a G Plate, that also had 60k on the clock at the time.
It didn't need anything done to it and was perfect mate, not a thing wrong with it so I would expect the same from this one

PS, the white one is nice, but it takes away what an XR3i is, to kit an XR3i as an RST is taking away its identity. so personally, id prefer a none RST kitted 3i...
and if lee wants a 3i, its his perogative

Ive always liked mk3 and 4 escorts as they were the in thing when i was at school. Ice had 3 rsts, 2 were mk4 and one a mk3. Ive never had a 3i so i want one..lol...
Id really like a mk3, and i might still hold out and buy one to restore yet as they are far more rare than Series ones, which you still see wuite often.
