Default mk3 escort buying tips? where to check etc

im looking at a mk3 escort 2mo morning and wondereing where to look for rott, the areas i know are chassis rails, seals, arches, battery tray, fuse box area, floor pans have i missed anywhere? cheers

yes rear inner arches ,boot floor,inner sills practially everwere

been told by the bloke it is like new, 47000miles on clock with history, boot floor is mint he said, the only biton damage/rust he said isa10p size dent on the roof so fingers crossed.

just make sure you look everywere mate,take your time,see if you can lift the carpet up and check those inner sills,and look at the back of the car under neth theres a little panel there were the sunroof drainers go

Dont take his word for it, have a good poke around underneath. Check the front arches where the driveshaft goes through, even rot-free cars are susceptible to cracking through this point. Also the inner arches just above the turrets fracture.

mate they fucking rot all over


cheack the chassis rails, the scuttle pannel, the inner wings, if the bat tray wasnt done intime then check where the floor meets the bulk head as theres alot that root round there,,, where the pedals go they rot


HELL THEY ALL JUST FUCKING ROT MATE


and also rust on the sunroof is gonna be UNDER it so its not a easy repair



and 47k on a mk3 escort is usually the second time them numbers have met up together in sunlight

suppose to be 1st time round, he says he has history on this, just hope its asmint as he says as im driving along way lol
