its just a registration number i dont see the excitment...like people what spunk over d reg s1's and j plate s2's! They are not rare as they are the same car

I reckon they have got the Date manufactured wrong and it should be December 1994....... Dec 1995 would make it an N reg or they have the manufactured & last owner dates round the wrong way.

Of course they're rarer cars..there weren't as many registered on that plate compared to the earlier ones..hence making them rarer

I'm not just saying it cos I have one..but it stands to reason that if there are two identical S2 cars: one on a G plate and one on a J, then the J plate will be worth slightly more due to the fact there aren't as many around now as the G's. Also the fact that there were only 8 J plates registered in the first place compared to 000's of G's. I only have 3 pics out of the 8 J plates and there's probably a couple of hundred of G's on the S2 database so your rarity factor is evident straight away.

I think it is a little different with the S1's as overall numbers are very low compared to numbers manufactured and the price difference is not as great compared to the S2 equivalents.
however: check the photos I have (I know some aren't around anymore but) C plates: 397, D plates: 23. The vast majority of the 8500 S1's were C platers...making the B's slightly rarer and D's very much rarer.
It's only down to the research that has been carried out lately that has pushed up the D plates to 23 as a few years back it was thought there was only around a dozen (and some of these are now gone....)

As always tho..it's based on condition. A rotten D plate is not worth half a mint C plate
