Default Cosworth engine types... Help needed

Last night I was looking into a new book I recently bought (Cosworth and Ford - The road cars).
There's a list of engine titles at the back: YBB, YBT, YBD, ...

Didn't find anything about an YBL engine type and guess what.... that's on my engine
Do I start worrying right now or is there another acceptable explanation?

Never heard of a YBL, could be a stamping error.

What car is this engine in ?

mmm, could be any reason for the number to be different.

I wouldnt worry about it myself as long as the car is ok

That's all I wanted to hear actually

The car is fine! Ok, the engine type ... erm ... doesn't exist , but then again... it's a 20 year old Ford. Those things can happen to the best of us

Cosworth supplied a lot of Kit form engines to Rally or race companies , each different variant had a special code , YBS was one i remember seeing on a car once , its not unusual for engine blocks to have been stamped up for one purpose only to be bought by Joe public , dont panic !

That was on my "I hope it's something like that"-list

Just didn't like the idea of finding out I'm driving around with a stolen engine

Does the cam cover have Ford written on it, as some versions were for non Ford applications (like the Panther Solo) and it was missing on these.

Dave Brodie of BBR had a load of them in crates at one time, yours has probably had a translpant at some stage

Yes it has.
Don't see anything strange... The car has only done 72k km's (45k miles) so just didn't expect it already had a transplant.

But everybody keeps telling us how nice it sounds, so I shouldn't worry about some numbers anyway
