baffled sumps dont cure it 100%
poor drainage from the head is what causes it in mi16

(apparently so! oil gets pumped up there and cant drain back down
around long fast left handers ive been reading up as i want mi16 in mine,, but its really offputting so many people with baffled sumps killing engines still!! Ask SiB!! )

You should see how many people on 205gtidrivers kill Mi-16 engines running proper Peugeot Sport sump baffles on road tyres. Some say they even get oil surge on the road let alone on track

Maybe you wern't driving fast enough Just kidding

Indeed... with the crew of mechanics on hand to check in between sessions if it had we'd have noticed...

Gotta say though.. I am aware they do have issues but the things to combat the issue are as follow.

Baffled sump
Uprated oil pump
Oil cooler.

Thats what was done to Marks car and never in the 5 or 6 track days we did was there a problem

Going through craner at 110mph ( which incidently is a left hander ) is perfectly fast enough in my book.. in a small car

The oil pump spring won't make any difference if it is sucking up air

I guess having one of the leading Pug UK rally teams mechanic coming to your track days and maintaining the car does help

But the baffled sump and oil cooler prevent it sucking up air.

Problem arises with crap installs at the wrong angle- according to Yoda.. when i was looking for one before he said it was imperitive you got the correct angle or THEY'RE PRONE TO SURGE and fucked engines

True the angle might make a difference, although these days most you see are done properly now exhaust manifolds are available off the shelf

I don't think the oil cooler will help either as they run after the oil pump in the scheme of oil flow. Not trying to argue here just saying Plus 1.9 GTis have a proper Mocal style air to oil cooler as standard

its not an argument Phill its a discussion..

Saying they all do it is a bit of a tongue in cheek comment as I have first hand experience of one that doesn't... thats all

BUT having said that..

It was a properly built and modified engine with all the correct bits and bobs added to it to make it safe.. and to say it had NO expense spared is an understatement..

I also doubt many people can say they have such an amazing back up as Mark did in the sense one of his best mates is one of AB's mechanics.. and me of course

I SOUND LIKE SUCH A JUMPED UP TWAT!!!!

Recently did an MLR track day at Cadwell park, in my little pug 1.9 8v. Oil surge was such a problem that I left white smoke from my exhaust on serious corners, that I decided to drived back home after only 30mins of putting a challenging sheen over the track for the Jap boys to catch me.
