Default Anyone on here work with PCB's at component level ?

I need to replace the ac power adaptor socket on my nieces Laptop.

Motherboard is removed and I need a socket !

Anyone ?

nice.. easiest place is ebay for new sockets.
or just goto maplins and buy a socket and plug that match, as long as the socket will fit the pcb, then just replace them.

hard to be clear from the pics Dave, would this one fit? You need to measure the diameter of the pin from the centre of the connector, it'll be 2.1mm or 2.5mm .

I'm not sure how "standard" the footprints are for surface mount version parts Dave, that was just one example that I could find easily, so have a good check of dimensions.

Got it sorted

Used a chassis mount power socket and ran wires off the PCB to socket terminals

Even managed to fit it so it is in same position as original socket

£80 + vat repair for £3.00
