Jake, you REALLY need to get onto a basic maths course that teaches you simple rearranging of equations mate.

Lol- yeh I can do all this I just havent for years and its difficult trying to remember what buttons to press on my calculator..

Its all under control.... the purpose of these initial excercises is to see where we're at as we start the main course on monday- I just want to get my brain working again properly..

But your concern is noted
I've found theres a fair few good notes on the internet which really help refresh your memory.

chip - fuck you must've been having a good old chuckle this afternoon with this thread

instead of measuring the diagonal, which would be difficult unless it had a flat roof that you could have got on top of, you should have measured the distance of 2 of the corners from a separate point somewhere else.

that would give you some angles, that i believe that you might need

why don't you just get a carpet firm round to do a quote?
they'll work it all out for you

and pmsl @ chip

if you find the length of one diagonal you can work the rest out fairly easily

Quantity Surveyors never under-estimate, as the job wouldn't get finished on time.
So work out the maximum area possible, then add 15%, job done, invoiced and paid.

so all he'd have to do is - 15% from their total and he'd be home and dry

Depends if the QS is client or contractor, client -15%, contractor +15%
