Default Copper prices

Got some bare copper that i've had for my many years as a sparky and apparently copper prices are sky high at the moment. Anyone know how much it is or where i can find out. Don't want per tonne prices or anything like that as i aint got a huge amount. Just wondering how much cash i will get. cheeRS

my mate is a self employed plumber and the other morning at 4 am his wife woke him to say she could hear a noise outside, he crept outside to find a low life theving scumbag helping himself to his copper pipes out of the roof top storage casing. anyway laddo turned round and stabbed him with a piece of 22mm copper pipe, went right into his stomach. what a fooking mess it is. anyway the police said IF they catch them they will charge them with assault. well wippeee fucking do. so the question is do you put your life at risk all for the sake of Ł20/Ł30 worth of scrap copper? i dont think so. let the wankers have it and stop in your bed. wish i had a photo to show you the wound, its very offensive.

i think its about Ł1 a kilo for clean and about 85p for fittings that have been solderd, hot water cylinders are about Ł15 to Ł20 depends where you are.

for a 20k bag of clean copper my old work gave you 60notes,

if you do weigh it in make sure you give it a clean and put all brass/lead covered copper in a seperate bag so you get the best price.

He will even buy it off you.

we are looking into this at work.
i work at the NEC, and use THOUSANDS of metres of cat 5 PER SHOW (usually a show per day).

We are looking at a solution for the used cat 5 (used once then chucked).

If anyone has any info etc, definitely let me know!!

I am a spark and use Cat 5 quite a lot and to be honest it really would'nt be worth weighing in. You would get pence for it as it is and you would spend hours stripping it and get so little copper it is'nt worth doing. There is just no weight to it.

Took some in today and i got Ł2 per kilo which i thought was ok

I think we are going to do it by the skip load.

We throw it away anyway, so will just see what external companies will offer for a unstripped skip load.

dont be suprised if they all want to charge you.
there is a hell of alot of waste to get rid off from your cable.they are only really interested in high voltage power cable.

Cat 5 is mostly insulation. As far as scrap is concerned it's worthless i'm affraid.
