Sorry this ones for the men only
From what I know you gotta start by doing your safety survival course, somethin like Ł800 irc
Then a good option is to register with an agency!
I think With no qualifications you'd be starting at the bottom tho but still good money HTH
Lambchop is good for info, hope he doesnt mind me saying few others on here too that will pipe up (exscuse the punn) when they see the post imsure!

Not sure about whats the lowest rate starting at the bottom.
The thing is with going on as pond life is that kennys mate will get the job before you
There is more to offshore work than rigs though, your best bet is to do your survival then a rigging coarse and go out as a rigger wages vary on experience etc etc

Yes i work offshore and i'm also normal
LOADS of different people offshore from all nationalities. You'd be very surprised! Oh and theres plenty rigs off blackpool or Great Yarmouth too
People travel from all over england to work up here. When i was on the Claymore there was a Production Supervisor who worked 3 on 3 off and commuted from Australia
Salaries vary because there are so many different jobs. Depends what you want to do and what your back ground is
Plenty money to be made though

Well on friday last week I received a job offer to work on the conoco philips loggs platform off lincolnshire.
And i'm a normal englishman!! lol
been in the onshore chemical process industry for over 18 years so this is a big change for me
don't know how you would get on one with out onshore experience tho.
as for pay the 15k pay rise is nice

As Lambchop says people from all over working offshore. You do find in the north sea that there a lot of Scots, but that is mainly cause a lot of the 3rd party companys are based up here. As for wages the bottom level on a drilling rig is roustabout(24000), then roughneck (28000) on the drilling side. But then you have maintenance, stewards and all the 3rd party companys.

Back ground is 6.5 years aluminium engineering (all sorts)
4 years 4000 ton transfer press operator
Few GCSE's and an NVQ
Both jobs are very physical so I'm not scared of a bit of graft, will this be enough to get on? not bothered about working onshore frist to gain experience if thats what it takes, just need a change/new challenge.

I work offshore also, have done it for about 6 years now, any enrty level job would be in the region of Ł20k or it's not worth having. Companies will either pay day rate only, salary only, or salary and day rate to make up the money, hence some of the jobs may have a shit salary but a good day rate when you actually offshore.
Here's a shortcut to the local paper, all the decent jobs are usually advertised in it on a friday, or you could just go into various search engines. Just got back today, need some time off......
