got a erst, where the inner mounting for the sunroof meet the roof I have a few holes through the roof to the internal. main point is it a case of chopping out the rot and weld a panel to the roof or just re-roof

When I had my Series 1 (same roof) I couldn't find a roof minus a sunroof for love or money and was going to chop up another basic Escort to get one.. lot of work

Mate Ford sold out years ago and I tried every pattern part manufacture going but never found one for sale

I didn't look but I think you will have better luck finding a roof skin with a sunroof tbh

If it's a modded car then keep a photographic record, shouldn't de-value it if you pass it of as a bonus, ie less weight. I put a plain roof-skin on my FRST for that reason. Needs more work on an escort to do the skin as the welded part is visible. On the FRST the seam is hidden under the roof trim. To get a mk3/4 plain skin you will most probably need to find a complete base model and cut the roof off. They can still be found if you look around.
