Default Impact Wrenches

Has anyone got any experience or thoughts on cordless impact wrenches??

I struggled like fook this weekend to get the hub nuts off my focus so I could change the drive shafts, ended up going down to a mates bodyshop to borrow his impact wrench which, predictably, buzzed them off no problem. Made me feel a bit of a coont for having spent at least half an hour stuggling like fook and swearing at them

Anyway, I don’t fancy getting a compressor and tooling up with air tools just yet so was wondering if cordless ones are any good? Do they kick out the same amount of torque as an air powered impact wrench?

had a feeling if I wanted one that would actually undo anything I'd have to spend a few quid.

The main reason I dont want to buy a compressor etc is that I'm renting at the moment and plan to buy middle of next year, and I've already got far too much crap to move so I'm trying to restrict what I buy between now and then LOL

that ebay one looks pretty good

Someone i know has a old snap-on one and it's very very good. [cordless]

I'm waiting for my local snap-on rep to get one in as they've redesigned and uprated it and are just awaiting delivery, it's expensive at about Ł350 + vat but the old one was shit hot and this is gonna be alot better he says.

You'll have to spend good money on a air gun aswell if your gonna go down that route, ok you can get a gun and compresser for Ł300 but don't expect the gun to be that good. You'll be looking at Ł300-800 for a good quality air impact wrench that will crack offhub nuts and such like,

I always use bars for stuff like that. Impact wrenches are cool, but you can only have so much power before it cracks off your wrists.

Spud you lazy git

To be fair tho - they are excellent bits of kit.

I've only ever used Snap On ones and they've never let me down - and on some things, i honestly thought nothing would shift them

seriously I tried !!! but the coont was having none of it, even got my trusted breaker bar extension out (its a tube off the hoover sshhh dont tell the missus ) and I still couldnt budge it !

Even when I got the gun on it, it tookn a couple of seconds before it started moving. I've been thinking about getting a compressor and a few tools for a while, but as I said dont really want to till I have a slightly more permanent address, might have a look a a couple of the cordless ones suggested here as sometimes I just cant be arsed swearing and grunting at a nut to make it come off
