Default FAO any plumbers-shower mixer help required please (TIFF)

I have a problem with my hot water in the shower, all other hot water in the house is fine but the water in the shower is warm at best
Am I right thinking that this is likely to be the element inside or could it be something else?
I have found the element for sale but dont want to waste my money if thats not what it is
Your help would be very much appreciated

As lee said...

Is it an Electric shower with just a cold feed to it?

OR

Is it a Thermostatic shower with Hot and Cold supplies going to it?

sounds like ur heater elements seen better days! O could be some electical fault within the shower! But if that were the case it would either not work at all or just be straight cold water not warm!

with you saying the element then id say its an electric shower.

in which case.. yes its knackered. likely culprit is scale. remember a shower is like a kettle, it heats the water as it flows, if there is a restriction in flow/temp, there is something blocking/ covering the elements.

my reccomendation... although relativley pricey (defo worth it guarenteed)... is a mira sport 9.5kw. wicked flow coming out of them. although dont expect standard 6mm poxy cable to do the job!

How did you do it-did you do a DIY or get the pro's in?
If it's just the element inside I can change that but need to know first

Hello Mate

How long has it been in?????

I sounds like there is a blockage happening in the main housing as these have filters in them that stop the shit in the pipes passing through.

If these get blocked up it will cause it to limit the hot/cold water that passes through.

These can be cleaned out by yourself if you are good at things like that......

Whilst your here Tiff, what is the main cause of low water pressure with mixer showers. House is only 5yrs old and the en suite has quite poor water pressure, making showering crap whilst all taps have great pressure.

Stu

The main reason for this is the "Head of water" not being high enough.

As the shower is run from the header tank in the roof, they are sometimes not quite high enough to get really good pressure as they work on gravity.

This can be overcome by fitting a pump.....BUT this may drain the tank quicker so you may need that to be replaced with a larger one.

Mat

Make sure the water is turned off first

There will be 2 metal gauze like filters inside the main shower housing. I would say that the one on the left (Hot) will be filled with shit
