Hi Peeps
just a little update
Simon has got the box back ready for another go
we have also exchange his rear diff for a 7" uprated Vc with 120Nm and uprated planet gears , his front diff has been serviced with new bearings seals /polished CWP
lets hope it's all sorted now and lets see how he gets on
Cheers marco

A bit of road testing only at the mo - car seems sweet!
Rolling road today (Friday morning) to find out the power, then track day somewhere, and maybe a bit of magazine thrashing
I'll keep the post updated, and will try to post some vid clips of the in car (and drive by) gearbox noise - which sounds ACE, and to me is not intrusive enough to be a problem.
I love it, big thanks to Marco for putting up with the hassle - we're getting there!

Nah, I hammer the car for sure, but try to avoid getting the arse end out as I usually land up spinning or getting a tank slapper on! I was always worried about standard diffs and box to do anything other than 'normal' fast track driving.

When it start to understeer a bit out of tight corner try it sometime Good for going sideways through big crossings on road
I just wondered because it's good test if gearbox is up to the job. With small turbo engine you can do this all the time, with your engine might be different even with uprated box.

it's been a mission with your car
don't worry about the rear diff that has a 120Nm uprated Vc and uprated planet gears
it's your front diff that will be your problem tho that will break first
what power did your car make on the rollers ? or didn't you go ?
cheers Marco

It is a straight cut, big tooth box. Only 4th is helical and thus silent in operation. 1,2,3 & 5 all make a whining noise in use, BUT it is not as loud as say a typical RALLY car noise. In 5th at an 80 mph cruise you can just about hear it, but in my case the car is louder than the box. Not intrusive at all.
Around town, and in 1, 2 and 3rd it sounds ACE. Plus it's still holding together now despite some enthusiastic driving on my behalf!

I did a charity track day at Castle Combe a couple of weekends ago - the car performed faultlessly all day - using just 200ml or so of oil.
Shame it also used in total around 5 to 6 tanks of fuel due to a running fault it seems to have! I subsequently a few weekends later melted a hole in one piston at an indicated 165mph...
The car is now off the road and I'm trying to decide if the future lies in a GT30, rebuild and remap or T38 and remap and rebuild.
The last spec of engine never made full power (420 -440bhp) so could just sort that spec out, or could go down GT30, -6 fuel lines, remap route and make 500 ish bhp.
Really not sure, but do want to give the Mullit box a full workout - believe me it has been well abused at sensible power - just needs a hiding at 500bhp plus to fully prove it, which I'd like to do.

you will love a GT series turbo. the biggest benefit of a high flow quick spooling turbo is its ability to make more power at lower boost levels giving your engine less stress.
but you already knew that!
bugger on the piston tho.
