I would classify the new Fixit version as indestructable, atleast its running in several high powered cars and ive never heard of one that let go. 750+ bhp doing quarter mile runs ie mad launches. Its the the diffs that brake up instead.
in that case tell them i will have a load of 9" diffs made soon

Macro,
This box seems very much like a Pete Doughty box including the price. Assuming you get it all sorted and through its the development phase what would make it a better box than the PD to buy ?
Cheers,
Dan
hi mate

Hi mate
To be honest I dont really know
all i know about the Pete Doughty box they are not making them any more so rumor has it
all i can tell you on the mullit box is the gears are well rated for over 600+ hp
like i said........ i would rather the box do the talking than myself , it's not talking very well at the min

Pete D....will be making kits again once he gets set up at home...they are still in transition following the sale of the engineering business....the reason they will call them X-trac quality is primarily because he used to cut a lot of gears for x-trac using their quality of material....the doughty 6 speed box still suffers certain failures with the reverse gear...no gearbox used for competition will ever be 100% reliable....the ffd has some failings so to try and compete with a low cost reliable box will be an uphill struggle and I for one take my hat off to you Marco....
The amount of money quaife, R&D, FF and Xtrac will have sunk into the design, R & D & maufacture to sell relatively very few units, its not a market place i'd like to be in....the profit margin must be very low and the hassle very high !!!

Hi peeps
just a quick update on the Mullit Box , ok here goes (deep breath) we have striped down the gearbox and found nothing has broken what so ever it's in tip top condition in everyway gears/shaft/imput /selectors everything is perfect
However it failed because the uprated center VC has burnt out .. the seal had let go due to heat problems (seal has partly melted) which then causes the oil to enter the VC and mix with the silicon it then loses all of it's viscosity hence no drive then at all
this is mainly caused because either the front or rear diff isn't working properly mainly the front diff is not quite right or if the front and rear diff ratios are different or using the wrong size wheels and tyres on the car
now i know Simons car has the right wheels and tyres allround and i think he has all the same ratios in both diffs so it might be diff problem
I have spoke to Simon today and have explaind to him what i think is wrong with his car i recon it's the front diff not quite working right he is going to have alook at his car and see if theres any probs .
In the mean time the box is being put back together and ready for another test i do need Simon to seriouly have alook at his motor
also i am doing another box which is being built as we speak so theres going to be 2 boxes being tested now
I spoke to Reyland(Martin Hadland) we had a little converstion he is going to test box No 2 in his Mondeo which is on the road very soon
The Mondeo is going to be 500+ bhp on To4 , 8 injectors
Hi Sibster
I know no motorsport box is going to last a life time as you said FFD/ X-trac/ R+D ect ,ect they all let go at some point but if this last a along time and it's fit for purpose and can withstand alot of punishment then we have got a product
I know this Mullit Box on a track car should be able to take alot of shite but on the rally cars i don't know how good or bad it will be
I have spoke to Markk on here he is willing to test Mullit Box "3" on the rally and see how the box gets on
thanks for all your comments guys i really appricate it
cheers Marco

Shame on you Simon... see thats why you break so many parts... shonky preparation and oversights
The Mondeo rides again! cool man I can't wait for a drive. Renton wants Martin to take him out for another ride.... NOT

Good news Marco!!!
Be interesting to know just how noisy the box is for "Fast Road" use i.e. could I put up with it for daily use?? Si??
"Mullit Box 4"??
I have one in the back garden with a broken 2nd gear "Sarge box 2" I call it!!
"Sarge box 3" is in the car and rumbling like fook on the overun!!

Doug Brilliant!
Porkie I know my car is minty mint!
Markk I do! Don't even know what they are (Xtrac I guess?), but they look nice so I want some!
Marco
Phill has looked at my diffs - I have 3.9 diff front and rear, and both visually appear intact and basic tests that were suggested to me over the phone seem to check out.
I have no idea why they are 3.9s ( I guess they're from a XR4x4?) - the car used to be 270 bhp before I got it, and only had a few mods so changing the diffs seems an odd thing to have done.
I'll hoik the diffs out tomorrow eve or over the weekend and bring them up to you for inspection / testing.
I'm really pleased the Mullit box is absolutely fine, as once fully tested I want one permanently in my car
kjc300 Kev - as soon as the box is in the car I'll head up to yours for a road trip and you can give it a drive and see what you think. I personally think that the noise is perfectly acceptable - it is not intrusive at Motorway speeds, but at lower speeds with the windows down it sounds ACE.

I'm only testing 3 boxes at the min if they prove themselves then they will go into production i'll need cases in exchange so i can carry on getting them made
the 3 kits have cost alot of money to get made ..... its like everything else in this world the more you stuff you have the cheaper it is
all the boxes going to be on exchange basis old for new
