if your going to rebuild the engine then yes it will proberbly be worth it

but then again you could always go teh 16v route aswell as your going efi

depends on what you want though

then it will be worth going low comp mate

theres no cons really just allows you to run more boost safely

get the rods peened and balanced along with the bottom end
head ported,cam

and the rite spec turbo you will be very happy

You'll need low comp for 250bhp.. and your head should do it.. not the nicest cam in the world on a 1.6 but it'll work.. CVH34 is better.. you'll need a decent turbo to make that power, obviously with the right chip&injectors..

not too sure yet mate, heard so many different pinions on things, is there much price difference between cossie and ofac/ofab and is cossie much better, and is it same amount of work involved in both

its hard to say on price

ofac is hard to get power out of as i dont think it can be mapped, ofab is i think can be mapped but is the most expensive out of frst

and cosy is just limitless really but proberbly the most expensive,

my last engine i done i specced for around 250 was this

low comp mahles with rings 400
head ported with manifolds to match 350
knifeedge crank 200
shot peened rods 150
all balanced inc flywheel clutch 150
cvh34 camshaft 250

then i had to buy gaskets etc, pumps so add another 200-250
bearings 100
clutch 150

in the end i sold the lot for 400 and bouht a std engine that just be reconned by ford for 550 as i wanted teh car on the road

obvioulsy i had to by turbo management etc aswell

but if you dont go efi with your head and cam and if you just rebuild the bottom end and low comp you could posibly get around 220-230 bhp

my std engine made 190 and 216lb torque, just had a chip, filter, exhaust, chargecooler

but efi is the way forward

depends on what you want how how much your willing to spend

with your current set up i rekon you could see 220 amybe a bit more by going low comp

but as ive said efi is the way forward

also its proberbly worth asking the person who is going to set the car up and see what he recommends as they will know more about the frst stuff

i know lee at fusion ran a good power on his and he was on ofac which ive already said is not very good but thats only what ive read and been told as he has proof of it working so proberbly worth a pm to him asking him what was incolved

To say there are no cons is not true.

If your compression ratio is too low then you will suffer from:
poor off boost response
less top end power
worse economy

The trick is getting the CORRECT compression ratio for what you are doing.

well the mahles i bought new were actually std ones skimmed to give the correct ratio thsi was off them themselves

i would just get new pistons and rings that are all ready done than have yours skimmed

as there could be problems with yours you dont know about like faint fractures etc

As chip said, and to answer your question about injectors, you're best to speak to your tuner to find out what the right spec (including compression ratio) for what you're trying to do..
