Thing is with that first storey there really are people who think like that.
The whole evangelical thing over there is really quite scary, to the point where they have universities that teach things like the World was made by God only 10,000 years ago, evolution never existed, dinosaurs never existed etc, they have massive amounts of money and are also ultra right wing...
There are also people like that over hear, I work with a guy who dosn't believe in evolution, and swears that unless it's in the bible it aint true...
