As Phil says.

If you dont already have the ALL the stuff you are looking for about Ł800.

Some useless information for those interested.....

In actual fact the L6/L8 hardware is very capable of doing ALS.

Unfortunately, its down to lack of development as the L8/P8 came along
and the tuners software developers (not mappers) put the work
into those ecu's instead.

The L6 isnt that much different from the L8 internally excluding the
baby board and the lambda/knock sensor interfaces.

what needs clarifying? ALS code can be added to any existing L8 chip - it's that simple.

cost is one thing, price that people are willing to pay is another but there's no reason for P8 route to be cheaper

Am i right in thinking for ALS your ecu requires the ability so switch maps as the fuel and ignition tables would be quite different?

no bri that's not necessary. you just need to retard the ignition compared to what it would be, and add fuel. simple as that really.

Would that not just be running ALS permanently. If you wanted it the be turned on/off sureley you need the normal values in your fuel and ign tables and then at the press of a button be able to switch to another map that has the extra fuel and retarded ign values etc.

feel free to shoot me down, just trying to get my head around a few things

ALS only works when throttle is closed (or as good as) AFAIK depending on the mapper.

Yes i realise that but what i'm getting at is if you want ALS but don't want it all the time eg, road car, presumably your ecu would need an external input feature (button on dash) to activate the ALS thus switching maps.

Bri.

Bri, you're quite right. You just need a switch to switch one of the ECU pins to earth to activate ALS, and then the ALS strategy can take over where normally the overrun fuel cut strategy would operate.
