Default Respraying costs

Does anyone know how much it is to respray a small car? Ive got a KA and it was owned by 2 girls before me and has a load of scratches! Every time i look at it i find at least 5 more! Different light show up different scrathes! Ive tried to polish em out, T-cut etc but it dont work and touch up paint is gonna look terrible with the amount that would be used!

So any ideas of prices etc?
cheers

Its an impossible question to answer really as it all depends on what you want doing and to what level of finish…..

A blow over with minimal stripping could cost you from £300 at mates rates….up to a full strip inc. shuts etc… in a pro body shop costing £4k!!

I had mine done last year at a Ford Approved body shop [all body-kit off, windows out, bumpers lights, spoiler etc.,…etc… Painting all shuts and a little of bit of modding here and there cost £2000

take it to a body shop and ask them to "mop" it. It may take most of the scratches out and save you a paint job. If you live anywhere near corby i could do it for you

As above, get it MOPPED at a body shop.We use a cutting compound called G3.This will get most scatches out as long as they have not gone through. It will then be polished with a different mop and a product called FINNESSE.Expect to pay about £50-£100 pound. But as i said, depends how deep the scatches are.If you can feel them with your finger nail, then they will need to be painted.Respray cost are split into 3 different areas.Do any of the areas yourself and you will save money.

1.STRIP AND PREP

2.PAINT AND LAQUER.

3.TIME.£PER HOUR.

Obviously you can,t paint it yourself but if you can strip & prep it you will save £per hour.Deep scratches will need rubbing down with sand paper then primered, all other smooth panels will just need the top layer of LAQUER removed with a RED SCOTCH BRITE PAD.(A BIT LIKE A SKOWERING PAD)Then take it to BODY SHOP and get it painted,About £500 depending on bodyshop. So you can save about £500-600.

bare metal is the only way to do it properly

takes time and costs.

but the end result is well worth it.

and PS, dont prep a care yourself, unless you work in a bodyshop!

95% of the finish result is the prep work underneath the paint.

You fuck that up and the paint will be shit and look worse than when you started.
