Default Poor monty turbo been killed, I'm fuming!

Bloke bought it on ebay, came to pick it up, got 7 miles down the road and has cooked it

We've done about 1,000 miles in it, 3 track sessions with no problems at all, hell it never even smoked! Told him that don't know what the silver flick switch does, but don't flick it as the temperature rockets up, its obviously over heated - switch must've been on either inadvertantly been on or he put it on, regardless who's fault it was on (cause we know for a fact that the temp soars when switch on) surely you look at the temperature gauge when driving a car? Then to carry on driving it after its been steaming under the bonnet then accuse it of having head gasket gone was nothing bloody wrong with it 20 minutes ago, I'm so annoyed (thought was going to a good home going to an MG tuner ) why did he let it overheat, I'm fuming!

It didn't have an electric water pump did it? Can't see why the temps would go up due to a switch otherwise.

So he's an MG tuner? Who bought your car? And now claims the head gasket was gone? How come he didnt spot it then?
His problem

Yes apparently used to work for Motobuild and with Andy Nichols they fit supercharges to MG ZS's, he didn't spot it as there wasn't anything to spot

All it has was an oil leak from the 'rocker' cover where someones whacked in the wrong size bolt, we made no secret of this in the ad, I'm an honest person, ok not a mechanic, but know full well there was nothing wrong with Monty, if there was I would've said

I had a soft spot for that car, 21 years old 133k miles, and its killed in less than 10 minutes
Fast guy, these are the switches, I've no idea what they did

Could have been adjustable boost/fan override switch?
Bit of a shame, but you gots your money, he's got lots of hot useless metal.
Would have thought he would know to take it easy on way home, then give the car a check over

lol its not that Fudge, its slant on your character plus was a perfectly fine road going car that is now becoming rare wanted a good home for it, dunno why its just really pissed me off, true have got the money, so why do I feel so bad?

Though have just had these comments from triple M

Rova sytems? Fellas name wasnt George was it?
not the in-famous george?
He won my metro turbo on ebay and f*cked me around non stop about collection. So he didnt have it. How the hell did he manage to cook it??? What a cock.
Too late now... guy isnt an enthusiast, just a con artist, will take the pistons out and bung them in a so called fast road T series and that will be the end of your old Monty unfortunatly!
Was all crap mate. He has never restored a car in his life, only breaks them.
He's also banned from all the other MG Rover forums apart from MGRover.org, which he pays them to be a member.

Now they tell me!

Actually reading your post Ballin I had to laugh!

cant believe you sold it to him though, i wouldnt sell a bag of sh*t to him! given that he is the biggest known con artist / wanker / fraudster / idiot / bald headed twat face in the ENTIRE rover/mg tuning circle , how on earth could you not have known?!
and as for his ZS breaking down, lol, no doubt it had 'secret' spec wiring on it.
I also think he was trying it on, prob to make you feel guilty and get a refund... as for his ZS breaking down, that wouldnt be a new excuse either, he has written a whole book of them and its available at WH SCHMITS
Is this not where he demands a refund/threatens legal action/sends the boys round
Or maybe he got the message the last time he messed with the wrong people
He's well liked within the O series / MG world then

Lets hope you weren't wearing black jeans otherwise he may be ringing you for further propositions He likes men in tight black jeans apparently

I saw one of his cars he worked on the other day, bodge central and for those scotchlok fans don't worry there was plenty of them in use.
I would also check your cash isn't forged, and if you let him into to go loo doublecheck to make sure you are not missing anything from your house
Just out of interest he wasn't driving a blue mg zr was he? One is currently missing which he was responsible for
Not really the fact that he's going to break it, ok fair enough he the new owner, but seems the bloke is a prize twat

Luckily the cash is ok! All these years selling and buying cars and never came across someone so dodgy (in fact J has NEVER sold a car and had a problem, and he's had a few)

Oh feck me George................

I have a court order against him for over £1000. Not that I'll ever see a penny of it.

I wonder if that switch is anything to do with the dial next to it, just wondering if it's something to do with the mixture and leaning it out for mots etc?? Or was it still on the standard SU carb? (maybe even something to do with ignition timing )
