Just wondering whos done it and what they thought of it, iam possibly thinking about a job change as iam getting a bit fed up of what iam doing at the moment. How did you get started and who did you work for and of course whats the pay like?

You mean those guys that stand at the bottom of motorway slip roads in the pouring rain, waiving trade plates and hoping someone will pick them up and take them somewhere near home so their wife can meet them at the nearest motorway junction and pick them up?
And the same ones that walk along dual carriageways looking for a free ride home?

The pay had better be very good.

We have a company who come into my work called STS. They deliver and collect cars.

I don't think the pay is that great (under Ł10 an hour) but they never hitch hike anywhere, they normally have a car to go back with, or the company pays for them to get a cab then a train back. I spoke to one of the regulars and he had to collect a car from Scotland and they flew him up there. They normally collect the more prestige cars, they never drive anything bad.

Used to always see them on the (now old) A1/M62 junction.

Funnily enough you never see anyone stop for them

Truckers normally do as they share this whole 'Working the roads' bond

The only reason they all hitch is because they are paid the travel costs but if they hitch its all bunce.

If you have a problem working with others or dont like someone looking over your shoulder all the time then its a nice little number driving about the country in someone elses car... getting paid for it.
