I'm getting the word WEAPON !!!!

I had the pleasure of a spin up the road in it when it was at 7psi and couldnt be revved beyond 5500rpm... and it wasted a Skyline over the same distance.

Its the 'James Dean' of RS Turbos......

Much to some peoples disgust.....

Was a cracking motor. I don't think it was ever properly tested though so we'll never know what it could do. James (teh owner/builder) was a really nice guy

Steve B from here broke it for him and many many parts live on in other cars

Think it had a legendary spec rather than being legendary for achieving anything.

Was still fucking awesome though

no daz it done some new ideas that people followed, it never done the times but then remember lewis's car,,,,,, that was a legend and done fook all too

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY

WHERES THE FUCKING PICTURES OF YOUR OLD SHED THESE DAYS AS THE EATHE WA GOOD A FEW WEEKS AGO

personally i dont think you ever owned the car,,, just found a few pictures and wanted to "be someone"

so show the piccys and prove me wrong

oh and soys car was one of the first cars stripped, with a gay boy bonet and cut out bumper, chrome engine bay, cossie managment and had loads of nice subtle touches,,,,,,, it inspired alot of people into the rs game based on its looks ect,,,,,, lots of people into rs's just like a quick car and a image rather than a fast car that a proper tool

soys done that imo and got others looking at erst's as cars

I was just trying to understand why a car that hasn't actually done anything legendary, is a legend.

Lewis's car was never a legend in my eyes either Ginge.

Personally I despise that front end and the rest of it is just the usual S2.

It may have been a technical marvel, but that doesn't make it a legend surely.

It was a well talked about car for an awful long time, even when it wasn't about for ages
In all of it stages

Some say if it's talked about even when it doesn't exist anymore it's called a legend

Sorry Christian,

But the fact people are still asking about the car nearly 3 years after it was broken suggest to me that is actually is a legend.

How many posts do you see asking about say.. Sean Bicknells old Escort or Bruce Reads 500 or Monte Dans Escort.

All very accomplished cars that have proved themselves... like your car.

Yes they come up occasionally but not with the monotonous regularity that SOY comes up.

It is like James Dean, the bloke made 3 films, that werent particularly good and goes and dies.... he has never had a chance to get old and fat and bald, he will always be 'beautiful' and its the same for SOY.

It never failed at anything because it was broken before it had a chance, but everyone accepts it had awesome potential and could have gone on to set some awesome times.

BUT We will never know and thats part of the myth that is SOY.

I had alot to do with the car over the years and built the car up in its final stage from a shell onwards so its rather fitting that I was the 1 to strip it when it was finally broken.....

The car will always be spoken about because of the fact it mad many stages of tune and bodywork over the years (7 years infact)... Thinfs like the mental twin tailpipes coming thru the back panel where the number plate used to be (takes balls to cut a rear panel on a mint car I'm sure you'll agree)

Anyway I'm not here to argue weitherthe car is a legend or not but heres a few pics that I have....

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/06...Sx/Soys%20RST/

Steve.....

Final buildrer of SOY and then the man responsible for the final strip and sell!!!!

wow! only asked what happened to it and people are arguing whether its a legend? well i can understand he could of gave us more of an idea of what the thing could really do, but i see it as not as a legend but one we all should never forget! and the fact remains is was one hell of a car to people likes or dislikes!

Aye and that's in bits now too I sold it like that to 'Stevenebm' who did a resto on it, fitted loads of cool stuff like a 2.0ltr 16v Zetec, big rear brakes, roll cage, leather ect ect...then sold it! Not sure who has the shell now but i know stevie kept the engine for his S1 project. So some of the bits off SOY have changed hands quite a bit since it got broke lol

I think Soy is more remembered than many other top RST's due to the fact this was the car that did all the shows from 4/5 years back & was running at all the drag race venues. It has been in a few mags as well in various guises (I forgot about the exhausts through the rear panel) and this is what people remember more than what times it put down. I think the last time it was featured (Perf Ford iirc) they had it down as being a legend car.

Similar story with Lewis's B19 TRB. It looks non-standard externally (big intercooler with cut-out bumpers. Bad-boy bonnet), people know what engine mods and new parts (engine-wise at the time: Zetec conversion) are fitted & that's what people remember.

That's not to take anyting away from the new breed of RST's pushing boundaries & achieving targets just merely to understand why people remember Soy & B19.
